Two alumni who graced the Wake Forest campus a decade apart, became physical therapists in different parts of the country and met on social media have joined forces to create an online course on the growing practice of mobile therapy.

David Bayliff (’88 pictured on left) was a member of the tennis team, majored in health and exercise science and went on to get a master’s in physical therapy at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia, in 1994. He began his practice in Scottsdale, Arizona.

F Scott Feil (’01 pictured on right) and yes, that’s F with no period, arrived at his profession thanks to his senior year volunteering in the physical therapy department at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Feil, who majored in English, received a master’s of physical therapy from East Carolina University, his transitional doctorate degree (DPT) at St. Augustine’s University in St. Augustine, Florida, where he also finished up his Educational Doctorate (EdD).

Bayliff said he practiced for 19 years in outpatient orthopedic clinics when a request from a physician to see a client at home set him on a new path of mobile therapy. He realized immediately that clients wanted personal attention without the stress of travel to busy clinic. He started Bayliff Integrated Wellness in 2013. He met Feil in a Facebook physical therapists' group.

Feil, practicing since 2006, has a “micropractice” in mobile therapy in Wimberley, Texas, where he works most of his day in a teaching capacity, but adds home visits to his schedule when he has openings. He produces “The Healthcare Education Transformation Podcast” and "The Professors of Profit Show" weekly and is also a business coach at “PTEducator.com.”

In June of 2018, they released their online course – “The Mobile PT Roadmap” – which Feil now owns and manages outright, and can be found at Pteducator.com, where you can also read about how Scott’s first name came to be an initial only.
